Matthew & The Atlas – ‘Deadwood’ / new video

post brought to you by: dyson

It starts with the voice then builds around there. A voice that has more character than a ukulele run through a Marshall stack with only one tube partially working.

But a voice can’t stand on its own, it needs a bed to lay on. And the instrumentation on Matthew & The Atlas’s “To The North” EP couldn’t be better suited for that phenomenal voice.

Released in the spring, this EP is amazing from start to finish. I want to call it one of my “Sunday morning” albums but that doesn’t seem fair. It’s way more than that. (but it does sound great on a sunday morning lounging around the house)

One of the standout tracks is ‘Dogwood’. A beautiful, yet rough and twang filled acoustic guitar makes up the core of the instrumentation. The banjo and hand percussion are the perfect accents to keep the song driving along. This song could go on repeat and be the soundtrack for certain parts of my life.

If you haven’t heard it, give it a listen and make your own opinions. That’s what music’s all about, right?

But even more important news is the new video for ‘Within The Rose’. Incredibly fitting for the song and love seeing Lindsay West singing on vocals. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Be sure to check out the site and consider ordering the 10″ vinyl copy of “To The North”. I know I’ll be getting my copy.
