The more I hear about new artists, the more I hear about them coming from Silver Lake, LA. Is Silver Lake becoming or has it been the west coast version of Brooklyn all along and I haven’t noticed?
Well, all I know is that yet again a new favorite of mine has come the way of Silver Lake. Armed with a stellar EP ‘Forming the Shapes‘ under their belt, Vanaprasta are gearing up to release their first full length titled ‘Healthy Geometry’.
The most exciting news for me? They’re offering 2 tracks available September 27th on 7″ vinyl. Bonus for you? You can listen to them below.
Vanaprasta got their start in late 2008 and have released 1 great EP and are now releasing what sounds like it should be a killer full length. I can imagine their live show is one to behold. If you’re a lucky LA resident, try to catch a show during their residency at the Echo in September.
The two songs I’ve heard off of ‘Healthy Geometry’ are powerful, passionate, and dynamic. Fast paced tempos and changes surrounded by intricate guitar riffs topped with a voice that speaks wonders to the music and leaves me with vocal reminders of a more rocking Jeff Buckley. (huge comparison, I know.)
Give a listen to the two songs that will be released on the limited 7″ this September. “Minnesota” and “Skinny State” are both tunes I’ve had on repeat since I’ve heard them. Instantly enjoyable but both grow with each listen. These songs are a fine example of what to expect with the release of ‘Healthy Geometry’.

I’ll keep you posted as to where you can grab the record and 7″.
