I’ve gotta give it up for the folks working tirelessly to make music and stand behind every aspect of it. Beware Fashionable Women definitely fall into this category. Founded and lead by guitarist/vocalist Barak Shpiez, the group has been gaining growing attention with their irresistibly catchy songs.
Based out of Pittsburgh, PA, Beware Fashionable Women have been working hard touring and promoting their full length self-titled independent release.
The record is definitely one to satisfy many moods you might be looking to help play as a background to your life’s musical soundtrack. Catchy pop meets a touch of raw and rough production that will keep you bouncing and smiling throughout the length of the record.
Barak Shpiez took on writing, recording, and playing most of the songs you’ll find on the self titled record. But I have to say, it definitely doesn’t sound like it’s one man doing most of the work. The sound is fully flushed out, very well produced and arranged. This would be a band I’d stumble across at a club and walk away wanting to find out everything I could about them.
I really hate throwing a genre around a band, but Beware Fashionable Women dictate what the indie pop genre is all about. It’s without a doubt pop music but can very well be respected by all the fans wanting to hear that ‘indie’ sound.
Give a listen to the opening track and see what you think. The record holds a lot more than what is shown here but this is one of the tunes I quite fancy.
Beware Fashionable Women – Rock Bottom
If you’re interested, you can grab the record on Bandcamp and iTunes.
Also check out the video that first sucked me into the group. I’m normally not one to fall in love with videos like this, but it was so well done I had to watch it through.
i´m sorry but rock bottom must be a beatles cover, right?
that’s just what i was about to say, i thought it was a helter skelter’s news version!
